It’s obviously not where the focus is, though if you look at the app store you would have to specifically make sure to check other software by Pixelmator to see they had Pro out on discount. Great, they’ll keep it updated so it doesn’t break for a few months to years.

Now, since it’s app store only, I can’t even get a upgrade discount to get Pro, I have to pay for twice the price of Pixelmator all over again if I want Pro - which I would have just bought in the first place if the makers tried to inform new purchasers-to-be about Pro taking up the mantle.
However, I bought it right after Pro had come out (or right before) and from that point until today they have not made a significant effort to make it clear to people that this is the old app being phased out.
In rare cases, Pixelmator Pro would quit unexpectedly with certain Type tool settings customized in the Touch Bar. The appearance of the View button in the toolbar has been updated. The selected appearance of the Info button in the toolbar has been updated to better match the look of macOS 11. When exporting images to JPEG or TIFF with CMYK color profiles, colors will now be preserved more accurately. When editing the vector points of shapes, pressing the Escape key will now exit editing without unselecting the shape. With a wide range of professional-grade, nondestructive image editing tools, Pixelmator Pro lets you bring out the best in your photos, create gorgeous. Maximum brush size has been increased to 5000 pixels. More properties of ABR brushes are now supported, bringing much improved ABR brush import, including support for 16-bit brushes. Pixelmator's powerful toolset includes selection, painting, color correction and retouching tools that easily transform and enhance your photos and images. When exporting to PSD, you can now optimize for Apple pro apps like Final Cut Pro and Motion. Pixelmator is an easy-to-use, fast and powerful image editing program that has everything you need to enhance, edit and retouch your photos. So, if you have worked in Photoshop, there is very little to learn when using Pixelmator. Almost all of Pixlmators keyboard shortcuts are the same as Photoshops. The rendering of effects has been significantly improved, too. Pixelmator is a relatively new application and a such it is not yet a full powered photo editing application like Photoshop, but it is much like Photoshop. Certain adjustment layers, such as Hue/Saturation, Exposure, and Channel Mixer will now be preserved when importing PSDs. Very large PSD files (in PSB format) are now also supported. Layered TIFFs with embedded PSDs will now be opened with layers in Pixelmator Pro. Many more advanced text features in PSD files are now supported in Pixelmator Pro, including symbol sizes and capitalization. Shape layers in PSD files will now be opened as shape layers in Pixelmator Pro. The software has been tweaked to match Big Sur (the latest version of macOS) and it will work with either older Intel-based machines or Apple’s new M1 Macs. The PSD engine in Pixelmator Pro has been completely rewritten from the ground up, massively improving support for PSD files.
